In November 2014, Joel and Dennis launched a “Nominate a Helper” campaign where they requested listeners nominate someone they wanted to recognize for helping others and trying to bring about change. Kenya C. Hall was one of our nominees and has an inspiring story to share.
Kenya has been working with youth and education for years in Buffalo, NY as well as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Kenya is an MSW who currently serves as the Director of Education for the Sayre Health Center in West Philadelphia. Kenya oversees educational programming for Sayre High School students who are trained in the skills and knowledge necessary to become certified clinical medical assistants before graduating from high school in preparation for post-secondary education and employment. She serves as a mentor to the students and is one of their strongest community advocates. Kenya recently finished her Masters of Public Administration to expand the ways in which she can advocate for comprehensive public education, allowing under-served youth and communities a chance to succeed. Kenya is passionate and tireless about her work. She is a role model for all helpers.
