This will be a live event on Thursday, February 19 at 9:15 p.m.

Classroom Teacher Helping through Art:

Dr. Courtnie N WolfgangDr. Courtnie Wolfgang is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art Education at Virginia Commonwealth University and community arts organizer living in Richmond, VA. She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Georgia and a PhD from The Ohio State University, with special concerns for popular culture and social justice arts education pedagogies. This is her 13th year in a classroom.
Since 2011, Courtnie has been designing and directing arts-based summer workshops with adjudicated youth in South Carolina. Most recently (February, 2015) she began a 10-week visual arts program with the Richmond City Justice Center, bringing together VCU students and incarcerated persons at the city jail in a collaborative teaching, learning, and art making environment. She believes in democratizing the arts (the arts ARE for everyone), but more so that making things and making things together are potentially transformative tasks.
